In 2003 an ad for a "pug dog" was listed in a local Pittsburgh Magazine called The Pennysaver. Ruth (Odie's owner) reacted on impulse and went to see Odie. She immediately fell in love and brought Odie home to live with her and her daughter Erica.

After living with Odie for about a month, Ruth and Erica finally found out that Odie has a VERY special talent. Odie can clearly say "I LOVE YOU!" As far as his owners know, it wasn't a taught behavior, but something that Odie did completely on his own, surprising everyone!
